Statue of Liberty Mini Replica

DON''T ASK ME HOW i DIDN'T KNOW THAT!

It hought the only Ladies Liberty duplicates were in Las Vegas and of course the ones in France - on the Swan Ally Island in Paris, France in the Seine River near the Grenelle Bridge. and the one in Luxembourg Gardens

I was very much mistaken and suprised to see another Lady Liberty in Iowa! A miniature replica of the Statue of Liberty welcomes you to the grounds of the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines at the east entrance.

In 1950, the Tall Corn (now Mid-Iowa) Council of the Boy Scouts of America donated this miniature Statue of Liberty to the State of Iowa as part of their annual service project. The statue was provided by Jack Whitaker, a Kansas City businessman active in the Boy Scouts at that time.

It was dedicated on the 40th anniversary of the crusade "To strengthen the arm of liberty."

I just love all that she represents - freedom & democracy.

I wonder if it meant the same back then as it does today though… what do you think?
