National North Carolina Day

Happy National North Carolina Day! I've never been to NC, have you? While writing this blog I was doing a little research, and it looks like a really beautiful place. There seems to be a lot of beautiful nature spots to see, which you know I love. I wanted to share some that I found, that I'll be adding on my list of to-do's when I visit this state. I hope this gives you some inspiration! Tell me - what are your North Carolina must-sees?

  • Linville Gorge and Falls

Location: NC Blue Ridge Mountains

I can never get enough of waterfalls, and just look at how pretty this one is! They call this place the "Grand Canyon of the East", and for good reason. Just look at it! There are two trails you can hike that lead to a view of the falls. It's surrounded by wilderness, and there are places to relax and even take a picnic. I can just imagine spending a perfect day here.

  • The Biltmore Estate

Location: Ashville, NC

This is the largest home in America. Yes - you read that right. I said home! It's basically been turned into a place you can stay at and explore, but I'm not complaining about that! The estate hosts lots of events and things to do. What sold me though is the complementary wine tastings held there! I can't miss that.

  • Blue Ridge Parkway

Location: Swain Country, NC

I am always up for a scenic drive, and with a view like that, how could I pass it up? This photo was obviously taken in the fall, where the colors of the leaves on the trees are gorgeous. Fall has always been my favorite season because of that. That would definitely be the time I'd want to take a drive down this road, but I'm sure it's just as pretty during the other seasons, too. Just imagine - the windows are down, wind is in your hair, your loved one in the seat next to you, enjoying the view.

  • Chimney Rock State Park

Location: Lake Lure, NC

This state park has absolutely amazing views and scenery! The park has six trails and even waterfalls! It has everything you'd need for a good day - hikes, food, views, even gift shops! The state park hosts events sometimes too, like different hikes on different trails. I'd love to make it up the rock with the flag one day, like the people in the photo.

  • Grandfather Mountain

Location: (near) Linville, NC

This is the kind of place that scares me and excites me at the same time! Look at the bridge - would you be able to stomach walking across it? It's a mile above the ground! But don't worry - if you can't bring yourself to walk across the bridge, you can check out the other things they have to do here! There's a museum, a wildlife habitat, different hikes and walks, and special daily programs. Definitely something for everyone.

I can't wait for my trip to North Carolina, so I can do all these things and more! What looks fun to you? What other things would you add to the list of must-sees?
